If you could give one simple piece of advice to a new YA librarian about working with teens, what would it be?

 1. Make it personal: Human connections will trump brilliant ideas 9 times out of 10
 2. Don't try hard to be cool. Just observe and be honest.
 3. give them the very best materials, and stand up for them.
 4. Perseverance is the key. If something doesn't work then try something else
 5. discover manga
 6. Listen to them.
 7. Read anything and everything.
 8. don't give up!!!!
 9. Have fun and don't take yourself too seriously!
 10. Be open to ideas and suggestions from teens.

We are considering a significant update to our website, one that would encompass resources for all three lists. (We're definitely planning on no-ads, or a few as possible.) Anything we should definitely keep, or something we should add?

 1. 1. Find someway to strip, block or otherwise end the masses of html-coding gobbledegook that infests too many posts. It renders them (and the digests in which they're embedded) unreadable. 2. Make a up an FAQ of subscribe/unsubscribe/etc. information and list protocols/basic manners (ex.
 2. message board, event listings (with the option of sorting by date or location), assignments/ handouts, links to information about libraries specialized collections (for example: minicomics, zines, original art)
 3. Not sure.
 4. have no idea.
 5. Simpler background. Page where members have lists of favorite GNs?
 6. An easy way to subscribe to it.
 7. no pop ups... if possible, keep it clean and simple...
 8. Perhaps a forum/place where members could post semi-permanent graphic novel-related weblinks? Or would that compete with the lists?
 9. Have only been to the website once, so I hate to make that decision without more information
 10. How about migrating the GN-LIB list to this web site? I have constantly had problems with receiving messages; it seems to switch me on and off the list, and I have read of others having the same problem.
